Stunningly impressive cranberry glass and sterling silver trophy won by the great Walter Travis at Nassau Country Club in 1899. This trophy was won by Walter Travis for the "Best Score Against Par" on August 5, 1899. This tournament must've been good practice for Walter Travis, as he won the US Amateur at Nassau CC 4 years later in 1903.
If possible, this trophy is even more impressive in person. Even in a crowded room, it's impossible to miss this piece. Due to its impressive appearance, we have to think that it would be worth a couple thousand dollars or more even if it wasn't the great Walter Travis' own trophy.
11 3/4" tall. Excellent condition. When examined closely, there are some small chips on the original stopper that do not show when displayed.
This piece is being offered today from the famed Ronnie Watts Collection
