Tiger Woods does NOT sign his Rookie Cards. This is a refrain you'll hear time and time again from card collectors and autograph chasers. Tiger has his deal with Upper Deck to sign autographs for pack-pulled cards, but he famously outright refuses to sign any golf card presented to him on the golf course or any other autograph opportunity. This has led to an extraordinary dearth of Tiger Woods autographed Rookie Cards in the hobby. For Tiger's XRC (extended rookie card) from the 1997 Grand Slam of Golf "Masters Collection" set, this has resulted in a single autographed example in the PSA population report, as well as the offered BGS example. Likewise, for the official 2001 Upper Deck RC (official rookie card), PSA's population report reveals only 2 autographed examples. For comparison's sake, Tiger has autographed well over 10,000 golf flags, but only a small handful of Rookie Cards.
Offered here is one of the only known Tiger Woods autographed XRC from the 1997-1998 Champions of Golf "Masters Champions" set. Even better, this is a circa 1997 era autograph of Tiger Woods. This card was authenticated and encapsulated many years ago (when JSA was still authenticating their autographs).
**The case itself is severely scratched and scuffed. Bidders should realize that this is a simple re-submit with BGS that should only cost a nominal amount. But we feel the need to mention this, as it currently detracts from the beauty of this iconic card beneath this old scratched slab.
