On Monday, June 16, 2008, the world woke up without a US Open Champion. The day before, Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate remained tied after 72 holes. It would take an 18 hole playoff on Monday to decide the US Open Champion; well, it would take more than that, as Tiger and Rocco were tied yet again after another 18 holes! Tiger Woods would eventually capture the title after the 19th playoff hole. This was the final time the US Open would ever include an 18 hole playoff, as the rule was later changed.

Offered here is Rocco Mediate's actual pin sheet from the 2008 US Open Playoff, which has been autographed by both Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate.

On Monday morning, June 16, 2008, Rocco Mediate's caddie Matt Achatz arrived at the course and picked up that day's pin sheet. Only 2 copies were needed, as only 2 golfers remained in contention to win the 2008 US Open title. He then hand-wrote notes regarding distances to different parts of each green. According to our conversations with Achatz, he and Rocco used this pin sheet on all 19 holes during the playoff - narrowly losing to Tiger Woods in one of the most memorable rounds of golf in recent history.

Achatz had a history of getting pin sheets autographed when caddying on the PGA Tour - but this one would prove most difficult, as he was not able to get Tiger to sign this pin sheet in the chaos immediately following Tiger's victory. But this one was important to Achatz, so the following year when Rocco and Tiger were paired together at the Farmers Insurance Open (also at Torrey Pines!), Achatz brought it with him and Tiger graciously autographed this historic pin sheet.

We recently had this 2008 US Open Playoff pin sheet authenticated and encapsulated by PSA to preserve this historic document forever.
