Offered here is a rare patent (applied for) club by legendary golfer and clubmaker Old Tom Morris. According to The Clubmaker's Art, Tom Morris invented this early 1890s cleek especially suited to play "cupped" balls. The rounded iron allowed the club to be used from any angle. Though Old Tom Morris may have been the biggest name in golf in 1890, the iron head itself was forged by soon-to-be-famous clubmaker Tom Stewart. Tom Morris would then shaft the club, apply his mark, and sell the club. Presented here is a dual-stamped Tom Morris (Tom Morris, St. Andrews) and Tom Stewart (Pipe stamp) iron. Excellent condition.
