A handmade PING Anser-style putter produced by Sco

A handmade PING Anser-style putter produced by Scotty Cameron himself in the early 1990s. Though all early “Scott” Cameron handmades are rare, very few, if any, hold a candle to this one.

In an ode to PING’s Anser, this putter has 85029 in the cavity - the Phoenix, AZ zip code of PING that’s featured in the cavity of many Ansers. In yet another ode to the Anser, Scotty Cameron intentionally misspelled “Scottsdale” on the bumpers - leaving off a letter just like Karsten Solheim’s wife Louise suggested Karsten drop the “W” in the word “Answer” to make a tidier look on what became the Anser putter.

Anthony Kim’s cult-like following with golf fans

Anthony Kim’s cult-like following with golf fans has seemingly never been stronger - despite not playing a competitive round of golf since 2012. The brash 20 year old Kim made his PGA Tour debut at the 2006 Valero Texas Open, and promptly finished 2nd. He went on to become only the fifth player in 30 years with 3 PGA Tour wins before the age of 25.

Kim’s star seemed to shine brightest in team competitions. The legend of AK may largely be due to his performance (and enthusiasm) at the 2008 Ryder Cup and 2009 Presidents Cup.

For collectors, there is simply not much Anthony Kim memorabilia in the hobby. Kim has completely distanced himself from the golf world, and even sightings of him around his hometown of Dallas are rare.

All of the above info surely fueled our excitement when we were first offered this putter - Anthony Kim’s personal Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter. Our favorite feature is the triple cherry bomb dots in the cavity. The first of the translucent red dots has a Circle T, and the others have the initials “A.K.” 🔥🔥
